On January 23rd, 2026, Nike became the next industry giant to be struck by a massive hack. The group known as WorldLeaks posted on darknet forums, claiming they extracted 188k files totaling 1.4 terabytes of data. Based on the images shown, it appears to be production and development information rather than customer data. Such as design files, manufacturing/process documentation, factory training notes, and possibly unreleased product info. The images shared were proof of a hack; the group gave Nike 48 hours to respond to their demands, or they would release the trove of data.

This seems to be a growing trend of these groups moving away from ransomware. Instead of encrypting all the files on their systems, this was more like a smash-and-grab. Much like with the recent Under Armor hack. Currently, Nike has stated it is looking into the group’s claims, but has not confirmed that the hack occurred. They also would not confirm that they would pay any ransom to avoid the data leak.
